Toddler Teacher for Sprouts Childcare Center - 2024/2025
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an interactive position wherein the candidate is required to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for toddlers enrolled in the program between ages of 15 months-3 years.
Toddler teachers are responsible for a group of nine toddlers. Teachers will integrate play based, emergent curriculum activities into the learning process and create a warm and nurturing environment to make learning viable for toddlers.
This is a team teaching position. In addition to collaborating with team member(s), the candidate will ensure the provision of a safe and healthy environment that supports all aspects of the learning and development.
DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Engage enthusiastically with teaching team members(s) with a group of toddlers on a daily basis and provide developmentally appropriate curriculum and experiences throughout the day in a nurturing and supportive manner
- Adhere to EEC teaching guidelines and health and safety regulations
- Maintain individual portfolios and document developmental progress and observations of each child
- Write progress reports twice a year for parents for each child
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum to include the learning domains of language and literacy, cognitive, physical development, and social emotional development
- Lead large and small group activities and also provide one on one instruction and scaffolding as needed
- Communicate effectively with the parents sharing observations and developmental progress of children
- Demonstrate an understanding of child developmental milestones and timely identify any developmental concerns to parents and director
- Directly supervise children during all parts of the day, including outside time
- Attend staff meetings and required professional development trainings
- Implement strengths based behavior management and redirection strategies
- Demonstrate problem solving skills
- Encourage self expression through language, art and imaginary play experiences
QUALIFICATIONS:
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledgeable about early childhood education and developmental milestones
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism in relationships with children, colleagues, parents and public school personnel
- Ability to sit on the floor and engage with children and lift forty pounds
- Proficient in communicating professionally with young children, parents and colleagues
- Ability to document observations of children in writing and communicate verbally with families
- Ability to meet curriculum deadlines
- Meet EEC qualifications and certification standards for Toddler Teacher
WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
This is a 10-month position. This position’s annual salary will be evenly spread over 26 pay periods and 5 sick days and all eligible holidays. The annual salary is between $37,000-$39,000. Closed major holidays and school vacation weeks. Eight hour daily work schedule within hours of operation 6:45am-4pm with a half hour duty free break.
