1:1 with Student

 

QUALIFICATIONS:



REPORTS TO:          

School building Nurse, Nursing Director and Director of Special Education 

 

JOB GOAL:

To assist in meeting the physical, emotional/social and healthcare needs for medically fragile students during the school day 

and extended day program.  In collaboration with the school nurse, promote and maintain the health and well-being of students in the classroom setting in order to enable them to take full advantage of available educational opportunities.   

 

PERFORMANCE RESONSIBLITIES:

Provides personal care assistance and supervision as needed for students including but not limited to:

 

Provides assistance with student’s educational program as directed by classroom teacher or therapist including but not limited to:

 

 

Works cooperatively with school nurse, students, faculty and staff including building administration and parent/guardian.

Collaborates with parent/guardian and school nurse to implement individual health care plan for students as assigned.  Ensures and maintains confidentiality of student information.  

Participates in all aspect of classroom program as directed by the classroom teacher.

 

Maintains and cleans student’s personal equipment and supplies.

Provides emergency care in cases of injury or sudden illness.  Such care will be limited to Basic First Aid only, followed by immediate notification of school nurse who will notify parent, physician or emergency medical services as needed.

Documents Basic First Aid and Illness care provided to students.  Completes accident/incident reports as needed in collaboration with school nurse.

Maintain accurate health record for each student.  Collaborates with school nurse for the documentation of health related activities and treatment on daily logs as appropriate.

Collaborates with school nurse for infectious disease and communicable disease monitoring in the classroom.

Identifies health and safety hazards in the classroom or building reporting concerns to school nurse.    

Assists school nurse with student health screenings as appropriate.

Follows building emergency plans including evacuation plans for students who require being evacuated by the Evacu-Trac system.  

Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

$185 per day
