Position: Classroom Assistant, Career Pathways Summer program
Job Goal: Work with students as a classroom assistant and mentor for the High School’s Tech Career Prep Program. The program is part of the career pathways program which offers Burlington High School students an opportunity for career exploration and work-related learning experiences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and guidance to up to 25 students who are working on technology projects and certifications. Projects are focused on software development, cyber security and data science, and may involve html, css, javascript, angular, python, AI, unity, cloud computing platforms, Excel, and Tableau.
- Assist program supervisor with logistical tasks such as taking attendance, administering programmatic surveys to students, and completing daily and end of program surveys in a timely fashion.
- The program has two sessions, one in spring and one in summer, both approximately 100 hours. Applicants can specify if they are interested in working at one or both programs.
Requirements:
- Declared or Intended BA or BS in computer science or a related field by the start of the program.
- Experience with at least one programming language and have project experience.
- Previous teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience, especially in computer science is strongly preferred.
- Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students.
- Must be able to collaborate with other team members and share classroom responsibilities.
- Strong time management, organizational and communication skills.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Compensation:
Hourly rate of $26 per hour
Start Date:
July 7 - August 1, 9 AM - 3 PM, Mon - Thurs, up to 25 hours per week
